What kind of photos can be taken during a personal branding photo session?

Personal branding photography, i.e. business photography that presents you and your business, is becoming increasingly popular as online visual appearance plays a fundamental role in the success of any business. But what kind of images can you expect from such a photo shoot?

1. Portraits

Perhaps the most important elements of personal branding photography are portrait photos which show who stands behind an enterprise or a brand. The focus is clearly on the person, which is why these photos usually (but not always) are tightly cropped. The background, which is simpler and homogeneous so as not to distract attention from you, isn’t so important. You can use these images as a profile picture or in the About Me section on your website.

2. Environmental portraits (taken in the work environment)

These photos with a wider crop also show the place where you work. The focus is still on you as a person, but the environment is also important. This could be a portrait taken in your hair salon, and the salon is also shown in the photo. If you are a language teacher teaching at a company, an outdoor photo taken in front of an office building is also included.

3. Photos showing your activity

During a personal branding photo session, I can take photos of you doing some activity. If you’re a coach, for example, it’s worth taking photos of you talking to clients. If you make products, the work process can also be captured, for example, we can show how a piece of jewelry is made, how you compose a bouquet of flowers, or how you do someone's makeup.

4. Showing the location

This way clients know in advance where they’ll arrive and in what environment you’ll meet. It usually means 1 or 2 photos in a series. If clients don’t visit your workplace, you can give them an insight into your work environment instead.

5. Photos of details and mood

It’s always worth paying attention to details. It could be a close-up of a craft product, a cozy corner of your shop, or any tool you use in your work.

A professional photo series is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also a strategic tool for building your brand. With the help of images, you can create a consistent visual appearance on your website and in social media or your marketing materials.
