Spring and summer floral sessions

Part 2 - April, May, June

In part 1, you got an insight into early spring flowers and locations. Now let's see what opportunities you have from April to June in and around Budapest, whether it's about portraits, couples photo shoots or dog and dog/master photography.

Let’s start with rapeseed in April. The sight of endless, yellow fields are so tempting for taking photos. You don't even have to travel to the countryside, because I can recommend you locations within the boundaries of Budapest.

It’s purple, but it’s not lavender. What is it? The phacelia. Blooming for weeks, it’s rich in nectar and pollen. The vast purple fields provide a cheerful, summery background for the photos.

The poppy is known as the queen of wildflowers. You can find large fields in several places within the boundaries of Budapest. You can often read about their locations in social media, but if you want to avoid the crowds, you should choose a lesser-known place. Poppies often form a field together with other plants. For example, crimson clovers, white chamomiles and blue cornflowers guarantee fabulous colours.

TIP: In addition to lavender, you can also pick herbs here.

Szi-Li Lavender Farm, located 35 km from Budapest in Sződ, offers year-round photoshoots (dogs must be carried in hand). You can also find lavender fields in Budakeszi and Páty (both are pet-friendly).

Did you know that there are several types of lavender? French lavender, for example, blooms earlier than English lavender, and flowering can be extended depending on the location of each field. With favorable weather, French lavender can even have a second or third bloom.

Good to know

1. It’s essential not to go among the rapeseed/poppy etc. and not to trample around for the sake of a few photos. I’m not the photographer you’re looking for if you fancy photos like that. If the conditions on location allow for it, I have a trick that will make it look like you’re standing in a field of flowers.

2. You should bring mosquito repellent with you. Once we had a poppy photo shoot where we couldn't even take photos in the most beautiful lights at sunset because of scratching.

I keep track of locations and blooming so that you don't have to worry about it.

4. Some locations are easily accessible by public transport, while others are only accessible by car.

5. The fastest way to find out about locations, times, and seasonal offers is to subscribe to the newsletter.
